BACH takes pride in rendering positive results and impacting the lives of those who benefit from our services. We wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the success stories and testimonials of those individuals we serve.
The BACH program has been instrumental in helping students to achieve career goals in the healthcare field. Tina Turner is a Patient Service Associate (PSA) in Women’s imaging at Mercy Medical Center. Tina graduated from Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy in 2009. She began her BACH Internship at Mercy Medical Center in 2008 through 2009. Tina’s ongoing persistence is helping her to achieve her goal in the medical field. Before becoming a PSA in the Women’s Imaging Department, Tina worked as a Patient Transporter in the Operating Room then shortly after she transferred to the Mail Room. Inspired by a history of cancer in her family, Tina’s dream and goal is to become an Oncologist to work with cancer patients. Being a Fellow in the BACH program provided Tina the opportunity for an introduction into the medical profession. Her professional advisors at Mercy have been Denise Phelps and Jackie Shivers. Denise helped Tina to stay on track in achieving her goal. Currently Tina is enrolled in the nursing program at the Community College Baltimore County in Catonsville.
The Director for Women’s Imaging, Carolyn Frye, stated, “Tina is a good worker and I am glad I brought her on board.” Carolyn also added, “I wanted to give her a chance to take on more responsibility…..and I knew she would be willing to learn.” Jackie Shivers, Administrative Coordinator, stated, “Tina is progressing very well….I’m sure she’s going to do great things in the future.”
